Military

Our military section holds items from the Austin area's own service men and women.  We have items from E.O. Austin's  Civil War rifle, to Scott Reynolds's uniforms worn in Iraq, and lots of memorabilia in between.  Uniforms, helmets, weapons, flags and the bricks bought in honor or memory of a service man or woman from the Austin area are on display.

 

Post Office

This is a display of Postal and Bank memorabilia when both were located in the Main Street building.  The Teller's window if from the Post Office once located in Keating Summit.

 

Community House

Memorabilia from Austin's Community Building that once held a theater, bowling alley, gymnasium, ballroom, billiard room, and more.

 

Church

Our church display holds a church pew, doors, bible, pictures and other items from many churches across the Austin area.

 

Band

This area displays 1930's and 1940's period community band photographs, vintage band instruments and uniforms.  On both sides of the display stand two of the old bandstand columns.

 

Farming and Logging

Items from the Austin area logging and farming period are found here.  The original tool chests of E.O. Austin and the Senator Frank Baldwin estate are on display.  Also found in this area is a full size buggy that once belonged to the Glasby family.

 

Nuschke/Brisbois Room

This room holds the typewriter, desk and chair where Austin's own author, Marie Kathern (Brisbois) Nuschke worked on her writings.  Other items from the Nuschke/Brisois estate are on display.

 

Austin Dam Memorial Association

Because of our close working relationship, The E.O. Austin Home/Historical Society provides this area for the Austin Dam Association.
